I had contracted this company to transport my car from Los Angeles to New Jersey for $800. My contact was John Salas who now with looking them up on a BBB website see him listed as a principal of the company. He promptly called me back from my initial inquiry and always returned calls immediately until the contract was set and they had my $100 dollar deposit. He informed me that they are not a broker and use their own trucks. We agreed on a price and a pick up date. I had left for the East coast as they knew I would and I left a contact name and number at my LA address where a friend was going to turn my car over to them. My car was never picked up as on the contracted date nor the next day. I never received a phone call. I placed three different calls to John Salas leaving him very polite voice messages over a 24 hour period never getting a return call. I called my credit card company to put a hold on the deposit. On the third day I called their customer service number and spoke with George C. who was the very first person I had spoke with when I initially contacted this company. He said that there was a mechanical problem with the truck which is why the car was not picked up. He could not commit to a pick up date and said he could arrange for the car to be picked up but a date was left open ended. I was very uneasy because they already had a $100 dollar deposit and if they were already showing poor customer service, why would I trust them with my $40,000 dollar car. If I canceled, I would lose my deposit which in my opinion is how this company makes some of their money. A friend stepped in to salvage the relationship by phone and my car was picked up the next day (3 days post contract date). Once the car was picked up, I called my credit card company to release the $100 dollars back to Car Transport Express. The balance due when my car was delivered was $700 dollars. 45 minutes before the car was to be delivered, I was notified that I owed a cash balance of $800 dollars. I called George C stating that it was supposed to be $700 dollars. He told me that they posted a $100 dollar credit back on my credit card which I knew was not true. So I set up a conference call with George C and my credit card company who confirmed that there was no credit nor any credit pending from his company. They were not going to release my car without the $800 cash and he assured me that he will follow up and if I had not been credited back that $100 dollars, he promised me I would. He said that he was not going to risk the reputation of his company over $100 dollars. Evidently this man does not care about the reputation of his company. There were phone calls made, I sent a certified letter with proof that they were paid a total of $900 dollars on an agreed contract of $800 dollars and that they owed me back $100 dollars. They have my money and they do not care about anything else. In short, STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY!!!
