If it's too good to be true it probably isn't true...as is the case with Continental Auto Movers. Several things went unfavorable and snow balled into an unpleasant experience. I didn't think it could happen to me but it did... the fact that they initially low-balled the quote and thus I agreed to the price and pick up. Next, they did not pick up the vehicle on time and failed to notify me of this and many other mishaps that inhibited them from providing the on time pick up service. When we inquired about the reasons for the delays, we were informed of many 'different' excuses and no one was clear or had their stories straight. One knows when another person is not being truthful. They initially wanted to charge us additional money for a guaranteed pick up on the date that was already agreed upon. Why should we pay additionally for this service that was already included in the original quote? So it was not paid because they informed us that if we waited a little more that we would not have to pay any additional fee as originally agreed to. After waiting an additional three weeks from the original pick up date, they finally subcontracted a local carrier and picked up the vehicle. The day after the vehicle was picked up; they called us and informed us of another additional charge due to the subcontracting of a different carrier. They lied to us about giving the carrier partial payment from their pocket. When we asked them what would be the consequences if we did not have the additional fee money we felt bullied and that the vehicle was going to be held ransom for the fee. They continued to lie about having called us and previously informing us of the additional fees and that we had "supposedly" agreed to paying the extra fee; which never took place. We did not want to risk spending more money on paying for vehicle storage if they had decided to keep the vehicle until we were able to come up with the extra fee. We could not negotiate with them on not paying the fee even though we stated that the fee was not part of the contract and that it was not our fault that they were having logistics problems. After further investigation, it was discovered that Continental Movers had intended for us to pay the entire fee. Overall, this was a super negative experience and if I had to do it over again I would have selected a higher bidding carrier from the beginning thus receiving higher quality service. Please be aware of this dishonest business and double check references.
